Deadline Extended: ‘Tis the Season extended until October 31st 2011

Posted on 03. Oct, 2011 by in Blog, Submissions

The entries and enquiries are still coming in, so to allow extra time for submissions, we are extending the deadline.

And since autumn is here and winter is fast approaching, we’d like to celebrate the change of seasons and entertain our readers (thousands of people in 95 countries) by first publishing the three prize-winning entries on our homepage, along with the author’s links to their websites, blogs, etc. This offers maximum exposure for the winning authors.

Prize details remain the same (please see the submissions page) and additionally, the three winning entries will be included in a forthcoming app and ebook collection, and will be excerpted on this website along with our other authors.

A list of Honored Writers will also be published.

Call for Submissions: Dust Off Your Published Stories

Posted on 24. May, 2011 by in Blog, Submissions

OPEN NOW: Call for Submissions

Have you published fiction, memoir or an essay up to 2,500 words?

Would you like to give it a second lease of life?

Second lives for short stories are an established literary tradition – some even have multiple incarnations – first in a literary journal, then an anthology and even, for the lucky few, adaptations into scripts for one-act plays or video.

We are looking for your favorites – the stories that, when you pick them off the shelf and read them again, you think, blimey, that is good.

Accepted stories will be excerpted on our ‘Authors’ page, along with links to the author’s website/blog, etc., announced on our FB page (over four million impressions) and in our Tweets, and the complete story will be included as a bonus in our free newsletter, LITERARY DELIGHTS, along with your bio.

There is no entry fee to submit, and we do not pay for these digital reprints, but accepted authors will receive a free eBook. In addition, if eChook’s thousands of readers in 84 countries (who love short stories) enjoy your work, they’ll follow the links to your site to read more. This is how authors in today’s social networking world build a platform – one reader at a time.

Please go to our Submissions page to submit and add to the title: ‘PUBLISHED STORY’. Please make note of where and when the piece was published.

DEADLINE: June 15th, 2011

There are currently two competitions open for unpublished stories (or those published online or in journals with less than 5,000 circulation.)

1. ‘Tis the Season, Vol 1. (Halloween/Thanksgiving/Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanza)
DEADLINE: September 30th, 2011. Entry fee $18. CLICK HERE TO PAY. All stories submitted to the contest will also be considered for publication in our other collections.

2. Memoir, Vol 2.

DEADLINE: December 1st, 2011. Entry fee $18. CLICK HERE TO PAY. All stories submitted to the contest will also be considered for publication in our other collections.

How writers can get published and paid: The Jordan Rich Show CBS Boston

Q & A with Jordan Rich of CBS Boston

Submit now to ‘Stories of Love’ app and earn up to $100. Deadline January 31st, 2011

Posted on 08. Dec, 2010 by in Blog, Submissions

We are looking for stories about love.

“Love is misunderstood to be an emotion; actually, it is a state of awareness, a way of being in the world, a way of seeing oneself and others.” – Dr. David Hawkins

Love stories aren’t always predictable. There’s romantic love between a couple, of course, but there are many other types, such as love for a family member or friend, love for a place, an animal, a memory, or an idea.

We’re looking for writing with a beginning, middle and end – fiction, non-fiction, memoir or essay. The ending can be happy in the traditional sense, but it doesn’t have to be, as long as the piece ends well in some way. This might be due to the wisdom that comes with the passing of time, or transcendence of another type.

We look forward to reading your work! Please visit Submissions page for full details.

* Submit to the ‘Stories of Love’ app to be entered in a drawing for an iPad 16GB with Wi-Fi. Winner will be announced by February 17th, 2011.

Please see the ‘Submission’ page for more details. We look forward to reading your work!
